The Columbine, The State Flower of Colorado

The attached article from the folks at TheFlowerBuzz.Org have done an amazing job capturing the essence of our state flower the Columbine.

Did you know that this beautiful flower only grows in the higher elevations of the Rockies.  It was discovered in 1820 on Pikes Peak by a mountain climber named Edwin James. and was first discovered.  This beautiful , rare, delicate flower is a protected species, and has been since 1925.

A song called “Where the Columbines Grow” was named after the flower in 1915, and also was made the official state song.
